The long-term use of the osteoporosis drug, Fosamax, may be associated with increased risk of femur fractures in postmenopausal women, according to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). If you have been injured from the side effects caused by Fosamax, you may deserve compensation.
Fosamax, manufactured by Merck & Company, is primarily prescribed to postmenopausal women to prevent osteoporosis and Paget's disease. The drug is supposed to strengthen bones in women over age 40; although, strong evidence has shown the opposite.
Fosamax has been linked with increased fractures of the thighbone, or femur. This bone is usually the strongest bone in the body, and the reported problems prompted the FDA to issue safety warnings about the drug in October of 2010.
If you or a loved one has used Fosamax or any other bisphosphonate for longer than three years and have suffered from low impact femur (thighbone), or any other unexpected fracture or stress fracture, you may be entitled to monetary compensation for damages.
